According to information received by Caliber from security sources, Russia has reached important findings in the investigation into the downing of an Azerbaijani Airlines plane.
The investigation confirmed that the plane was shot down by the Pantsir S-1 air defense system delivered to Russia from Syria. It was also found that electronic warfare equipment was used against the plane, which disabled the aircraft control system.
The Russian investigation has identified not only the military personnel who fired at the plane, but also the official who gave the order. Caliber editors stated that they have details about the identities and titles of the perpetrators of the incident and that this information will be shared with the public at the appropriate time.
Azerbaijan called on Kremlin officials to take responsibility for the tragedy. Otherwise, covering up the incident could lead to Russia being seen as an accomplice.
Referring to the incidents of the Malaysian Boeing and the South Korean plane, Azerbaijan stated that they cannot accept the distortion of facts. It was reminded that President Aliyev apologized and paid compensation for the downed Russian helicopter in 2020.
